Keynote Opening: Advanced malware cyberespionage: From Flame and RedOctober to Miniduke
During the past years, high-level cyber-espionage campaigns have successfully infiltrated computer networks at diplomatic, governmental and scientific research organisations around the world, gathering data and intelligence from mobile devices, computer systems and network equipment.
Kaspersky Lab’s researchers have spent several months analysing malware such as RedOctober or Miniduke, which target governmental organisations from Eastern Europe, former USSR members and countries in Central Asia, but also in NATO countries, including some in Western Europe and North America.
We have come to understand that we are living the dawn of cyberwar; as countries invest more money into offensive capabilities, cyberattacks increase, and we are quickly moving towards a huge escalation of these conflicts into cyberspace.
In this presentation we will discuss the most recent cyberwarfare incidents, solutions for defence against targeted attacks and offer a glimpse of the future of cyberespionage.
